Containment Berms

Spill Containment Berms

A containment berm is a portable floor with raised walls that catches leaks and spills from trucks, tankers, frac tanks, generators, equipment and drum staging. Set it down, park or stage inside it, and anything that leaks stays in the berm instead of soaking into the ground or running to a storm drain.

We carry the full UltraTech berm line. The right style comes down to three questions: do vehicles drive in and out, how often does the berm move, and how much liquid does it have to hold.

Berm styles

  • Foam Wall berms: foam filled walls press down when a tire rolls over and come back up after. The go to choice for trucks and tankers driving in and out.
  • Mini Foam Wall berms: 2' x 2' to 6' x 6' footprints with 6 inch walls for pumps, generators, drums and small equipment.
  • Collapsible berms: sidewalls that fold down for loading and stand back up for containment. Quick to set up and move.
  • Stake Wall berms: sidewalls held up by removable supports for longer setups.
  • Ultimate model berms: heavy duty fabric for long term and high traffic sites.
  • Economy and Compact berms: lighter duty and budget jobs.
  • M2 containment walls: hard wall sections that build a permanent or semi permanent containment area around tanks and equipment.

How to size a containment berm

Start with the largest tank or container that will sit inside the berm. SPCC rules for bulk oil storage call for containment that holds the full capacity of the largest container plus enough freeboard for rain, so outdoor berms need extra room. Then measure the footprint of the truck or equipment, add space to walk around it, and pick a wall height that gives you the volume you need.
